Lukumades open their doors to Canberra

Looking for a sweet snack, an Instagram-worthy dessert, or a taste of tradition with a modern twist? Canberra is about to get a whole lot sweeter.

Because in some sweet news, Lukumades will be opening its doors on Friday 6 December from noon to help Canberra dessert lovers indulge.

Offering a modern twist on the traditional delicacy, Lukumades – otherwise known as ‘Greek doughnuts’ – are sold all over Greece from small dedicated patisseries, quite often no bigger than a hole in the wall. Usually served as a treat in the afternoon with honey syrup and crushed walnuts, Lukumades Canberra makes their treat with a twist: they’ll be combining crispy golden dough balls with an array of mouthwatering toppings and fillings, promising something for every kind of sweet tooth.

An example? Think doughnuts smothered with Nutella, sprinkled with crushed Oreos, or infused with matcha and white chocolate or drizzled with honey. We’ll take one of each, thanks.

And that’s not all that’s on the menu. They’ll also be serving gelato (flavours include tiramisu, salted caramel and pistachio), shakes, a Greek Freddo Espresso and more.

But on to the real reason why you’re reading: the free Lukumades tray.

To celebrate the opening, the first 50 customers in line will get their hands on a Lukumades tray to experience the deliciousness firsthand. That’s 10 balls in total, all  made fresh to order.
